Dear Reader,
The first time I invested in coaching, all I was willing to spend was a couple hundred dollars for a four-week virtual “Design Your Career” workshop.
At the time, that felt like a huge stretch but because it was for my career, I could justify that investment.
Shortly after, the organization I would eventually complete my coach training through offered a weekend “Design Your Life” intensive.
I remember wanting to go.
I also remember all the reasons I couldn’t.
I had a young son at home. How could I possibly get away for an entire weekend? Was it selfish? Was this really the right time? Investing in my life, not just my career...Was it worth the money?
The excuses sounded practical.
But looking back, I don’t think they were really about money or logistics.
Deeper down, I think part of me knew that saying yes would change me.
And that was scary.
I’ve noticed this pattern every single time I’ve invested in myself.
Whether it was hiring a coach, joining a mastermind, attending a retreat, or enrolling in a program, resistance would show up first.
It sounded like:
I don’t have the time.
I can’t justify the money.
My family needs me.
Maybe next year.
But almost every time I said yes, despite the fear, guilt, or discomfort, it propelled me into a new level of connection with myself and my truest expression.
Today, I regularly invest in experiences and masterminds that would have once felt unimaginable because I’ve learned something important:
Discomfort is often part of the growing pains.
Many of the opportunities, relationships, and experiences that shape us don’t come from staying where we are comfortable.
They come from being willing to place ourselves in rooms with people who are asking bigger questions, living courageously, and choosing growth.
I recently shared a short video on Instagram and LinkedIn reflecting on an incredible week that I had. I shared the greatest truth I've experienced: alignment creates energy in a way striving never can. If you haven’t seen it, I invite you to watch it.
Here's the truth. None of the opportunities I've had would have existed if I hadn’t repeatedly said yes to spaces that stretched me. Spaces where I was surrounded by women who were also choosing growth, purpose, and possibility.
Those rooms changed me.
And they continue to.
As you think about the second half of this year, perhaps the question isn’t simply:
What do I want to do next?
Perhaps the question is:
What kind of spaces and what kind of people do I need around me to become who I am being called to be?
This is one of the reasons I’m creating The Lighthouse Retreat. While one-on-one coaching can be deeply transformational, I’ve come to believe that other women often hold pieces of our puzzles.
Some of the most profound shifts in my own life have happened in spaces where women gathered, reflected, challenged one another, and shared their wisdom.
I wanted to create a space where that kind of magic can happen. Where accomplished women can step out of overdrive, reconnect with what matters most, and discover that they don’t have to navigate the next chapter alone.
And if the idea of saying yes to yourself feels scary, pay attention.
I've learned that fear and expansion often travel together.
I'd love to help you shift that fear into excitement. You can learn more about the retreat here: https://www.drswetachawla.com/retreat
And before I sign off, I want to share a photo of one of the mini collaborative murals I facilitated at a women's Solstice gathering last week.
My husband brought my vision to life through the design, another dream come true. I'm a mural facilitator who can't draw!
Years ago, I never would have imagined that we would one day collaborate in this way, blending creativity, community, and meaning. Honestly, it wasn't even a dream I knew to dream.
I've found that some of the most meaningful chapters of our lives begin this way. We say yes to something that feels scary, selfish, or uncertain, and in doing so, we open ourselves to possibilities we couldn't have imagined from where we started.
Here's to sharing in spaces that make you grow,
